I Know I can use the search bottom and look it up but even then there are a big difference in answers. I am looking to do 14 inch apes on my sgs, what i would like to know asides from the wire extenders, will i have to buy hoses for brakes and clutch to fit the 14inch apes, or will the stock fit. Also is the 2016 model sgs fly by wire connector fit through the holes without having to dissembling the connectors?
Thank you

I have Yaffe 12" bagger ages. Would like to have done the 14's. Anyway the answer is yes, you will need extenders and brake/clutch cables. My 12's would have reached but it was such a stretch I went ahead and ran longer braided lines all the way around. I did run wires through the Yaffe's and it was a bit of a PITA because of the Yaffe bend then connect the extension.

i thought they changed the connecter on the 2016 models, and the brake line changed on 2015 ??

From what all I have read, on 14"s you won't need cables. Just cut all the cable ties and re-route them. I've even heard of someone putting on 16"s without new cables. Not sure, but I think it was spazz

Not sure why anyone would want the bars above the hand guards on the fairing? The fairing is designed for your hands to be behind that section, not above... Kinda like putting low profile tires on a 4X4. Some things just ain't right.

Yes the batwing does do a nice job of keeping rocks off my knuckles but that won't stop me from putting on the bars I want. It's about personal choice and making our bikes what we want.

12" bars are on my wish list, but at this point a low priority

I believe with 14s you would need longer brake & clutch lines along with wire extensions. Also I'd put poly riser bushings in which is probable going to necessitate notching your inner fairing for clearance as the riser bushings will raise the bars slightly and not clear the radius on the inner fairing.

All 10's and most 12's you wouldn't need to change bushings , lines , and wires.

I just put LA Chopper 12'' on my 2016 street glide special. Here's what I can tell you for sure. The brake and clutch cables were just long enough on the 12''. You will need to replace them any higher. I had to replace the control wires. I order extended wires from NAMZ. The throttle wire was plenty long enough for the 12''. It's probably long enough for 14''s. All the control wires and the throttle wire could easily be fed through the bars. The throttle wire connector is much smaller than what I've seen on the 2015 street glide handlebar change on youtube. No need to take the throttle wire apart. I also upgraded to poly bushings with no issues. Didn't have to notch out the fairing.

Several threads on here where guys are using stock lines with 14 inch bars. Do a search for 14 inch bar install you just have to reroute the lines.

IMG_1728.JPGIMG_1730.JPGI had the entire fairing off of the 2016 street glide special, and there was no additional slack even with rerouting the cables. Maybe they changed the length on the 2016 models.

We must be a minority. I'm the same way. I did 8" Yaffe's. Anything taller put your hands above fairing. 6" would have been perfect. Right about stock height but with the Yaffe style.

So I went ahead and installed my la choppers 14" twin peaks, no need for cable extenders, they fit just fine. You will need electric extension, 8 inch was more then enough. Just for the switches, the tps is way long enough and will fit with out de-pining it

I had to hold back my laughter when my Local Stealership, quoted me $620 Not including the Bars, to install 14" Apes.

I especially enjoyed how the winter special prices were the exact prices you find the parts online for.

I ordered 14'' KST Mayhem Bagger Bars from Eastern Performance, I was quoted $205 Shipped initially. They ended up bringing the price down to $193, since i ordered the Namz extensions. They also gave me free shipping, and threw in an Eastern Performance Yeti Tumbler as well. All for $280.80
