Headers or stock? Rookie question

So I purchased my bike used with exhaust already on it. I know after some research that it has the Vance and Hines twin slash round slip ons. How can I tell if it has aftermarket headers? It has the chrome covers over them so I'm assuming they're stock? I don't however feel all of this heat that people complain about from a cat being in them. Do they make aftermarket headers that still utilize stock covers?

How about a good close up picture of your head pipe and where the slip on's bolt on. Someone may be able to tell by what they look like in the pictures.

I purchased a modified stock headpipe.

The cat was removed and new pipe (making it a true dual) was welded in place. Thus I can still utilize my factory covers.

So in order for the Cat to be removed a new section of pipe would be welded in its place? I'll have to get some pics and post them so people can get a better idea, but right now this is the only one I have. Doesn't show much.

If you didn't weld a new piece back in (or at minimum gut the cat leaving rhe chamber) the headpipe would end up being a few inches too short and wouldn't work anymore.

Just by glance it looks like you've got a true dual system.

Take a look by the transmission... Can you see if the 2 sections join (where it says six speed).

It looks like they are seperated to me based on the pictures angle.

On my bike the factory cover is bigger and covers both pipes at that area and yours appears to be separated.

This is a quick picture I snapped of my bike off the pc when it was stock.

They are definitely two separate pipes. Doesn't connect anywhere. That's one of the reasons why I thought they were aftermarket headers that still utilize the stock covers.

Here's a little bit better shot of the pipes. Had to zoom in and screenshot so it's not real clear.

You my friend are a lucky owner of a street glide with a full exhaust system.

Stock covers on the 2012's look like mine so those covers are aftermarket as well

Now if I could just figure out what type of headers they are! Lol! I'd imagine they are Vance and Hines as well but I'll have to do some research! Thanks for all of your help!
