Does anyone have any experiences with aftermarket farings as opposed to the Harley lowers? Any good ones or ones to stay away from? Thanks! Thinking about getting some for my sgs.

The stock ones painted complete were around $600.00, this included the glove box, adjustable vent and painted to match my bike . only took 3-4 weeks to receive.

I have the matching Harley lowers, I did not install them yet. I also have soft lowers I used on my bike, only complaint is getting a back wind that brings in exhaust fumes when riding on the highway.

Oldmike I too have the soft lowers. They are not quite as nice as the hard lowers. I looked on Harley website and color matched lowers are 699 for my sgs

I have a 14 SGS also and bought the hard color matched lowers new when I bought the bike. I have to assemble them and am too lazy to do it right now.
I have the glove box liners and quick release hardware too. It's going to be a Winter project along with the saddle bag crash bars.

home brew. I can measure and send, easy to make, little welding and fish mouth.
Thanks airhead, btw what kind of center stand is that?
you can have Craig at clear view shield make you some out of Lexan, then attach them to the engine guard with vinyl coated wire looms. had a pair on my 87 FLHTC.
sky blue with a slight curve towards the engine. I would have to dig deep to see if I could find pictures. I still have them I think in the bat cave, if so I will post pictures.

Why not post the measurements here for all of us to see, I might be interested in making one myself.
Thanks

I bought mine from a mfg in Phoenix about 4 years ago. It was about $180 I think.

Do y'all know if the 2013 lowers fit the2014?

Yes I'm pretty sure they do, I've seen some '14's running the older style aftermarket lowers.. I plan on buying a cheap set myself one day.

Quick and dirty, not the best photos Thank you pappabear. really liked the Daytona blue but only offered on the FLHX.
Ignore the license plate.

No thinking involved, hole saw and a drill press or a tube notcher are pro, but not necessary. welder handy also. and remember, WEAR YOUR PPE. Your safety is your responsibility.

Take a look at the way other people have them mounted before you try as they will scratch the chrome. If you have a tire lock or stand where you can lock the bike in level and straight up and use a large square a tape to make sure they are both in the same place. If they are off just a little bit you will notice while your riding and it will drive you crazy. Not a hard thing to do but if you get it wrong it will leave tracks you can't hide. Once you get them on you will use them a lot as the only time I put my feet on the floor boards is when I start off or shift maybe also dodging a cage or 2.
