Ive been waiting to pull the trigger on some PY Monkey bars soonI've Confirmed it with 3 other sources, and since i live here in Phoenix, i went to the source myself to get some info. Pauls Bar guy said they weren't sure on how high you could go without extending the cables and lines, so i checked in with Scottsdale Harley's parts guy and he said 10''.
Doing more research, because well i have the time before i pull the trigger, i talked with 3 different people that CONFIRMED that you can do as high as 12'' without extending lines. The caveat being, you have to slightly break loose the banjo bolts on the clutch and break lines to slowly point them toward the opening where the lines come through the fairing (so they clear the speaker portion of the fairing). I've done this before, so i'm comfortable with it, but some may not be. It goes without saying that You must be careful not to introduce air into the lines. Also, you need to cut ALL zip ties that hold the lines inside the fairing to get that extra slack.
Another interesting find, for those dreading doing this themselves, is the Molex Pin connector that you have to disassemble and reassemble after you re wire the bars. '16 models have a SMALLER connecter, meaning just slide it through, no dismantling the connector and saving yourself about an hour or so worth of mind numbing finger pains (for the inexperienced).
For those that are mechanically inclined, and have been wanting to do this for a while now and don't want to spend a mortgage payment putting bars on at their dealer or shop, here's a link to the video for a 2015 MODEL. The process is the same, minus the connector splitting portion obviously.
And ill obviously post pictures when i pull the trigger here for my '16 denim in about a month on my New exhaust/Air cleaner/Bars.
