Ouch!

I was wondering if the 8 inch LA Chopper Twin Peaks would have the same affect with the pain between my shoulder blades... The 10's look a little high, and I'm only 5'10.

I am 5'11" and I could have easily gone with 12" and would work but as I stated I don't want my hands exposed above batwings so you will be fine with 10" bars.....the reason is if I sit back (slouch) 10" bars are straight inline with my arms and that's how I ride on long rides.....

14" bars? Really I've never heard of going that high with the stock stuff, I always heard 12" is difficult to get enough length. I bet that's tricky.

Go to YouTube and look up factory47 14 inch install video check it out. Dealers will always tell you they have to replace everything that's how they make money.

I'm 5' 11" with 32" inseam and I went with 10" for the same reason to keep my hands from being above the fairing for winter riding. Coming off my old road king with 18" bars the 10" felt a little low but after changing seats to something that moved me back a inch+ they feel fine. My arms are pretty much straight inline with the bars because a slouch as well.

I would check it out but I'm happy with my 10". My dealer was straight up with me and said per their experience they would do up to 12" without new hydraulics.

I'm happy your pleased with your set up just trying to keep all the facts on the table here. I'm 6-1 with a long torso and the 16 inch bars I have fit me very well. Rode bikes with 12's and 14's before I made my decision on the 16's. So with the 16's I had to change lines and add some extensions but I'm very happy with it. We all have opinions and thoughts on what we want but we need to let people choose what they want giving them the information they are seeking along with a little advice to make an informed decision. After renting a stock street glide back in October I was in pain after a half an hour of riding but worked through it and had a blast riding the tail of the dragon.

I replaced the stock with 12” LA Choppers Twin Peaks. I realize there are some people who were able to do without changing the cables and hoses. I did change on mine. The local shop (non dealer and has a 5 star reputation locally) said he would see if I could get by without changing them all and just use stock. It was fine as the handlebars where straight. But there was enough tension when you turned the bars that we decided to play it safe and change the cables. I was there when he was doing the work and I could definitely see how tense the cables were. So I think you should at least be very careful and not assume you can keep the stock setup.

Also, the comfort was night and day. No comparison. Also make sure the shop (or you if you do yourself) change to urethane bushings and new brackets vs using the stock. You need some extra ‘bite’ in how they attach to the bike. The higher bars exert more leverage on the brackets and so having something more robust is good.

I hope this works for you. Too expensive of an investment to be that uncomfortable that early in ownership.

Sorry I didn't say I didn't believe you I just don't have any desire to watch the video because I have no intention on going higher than a 10" bar, I don't want my hands above the fairing. I also have been pretty happy with my dealership because they don't spew BS to sell you stuff, so I didn't agree with your statement. Again sorry to offend you for not knowing that you can go higher than 12" with the stock lines that's just what I've been told/read since the rushmore bikes came out. Bad information on my end, thank you for correcting me!
