Questions on 21" wheel

New here so I apologize if this topic has been raised previously. I have an 06 that I put a 21" front wheel on with low profile front fender. Apparently the shop I used ordered the wrong front fender because the ended up custom fabricating brackets to attach the fender.
I immediately noticed a metallic noise on low speed bumps or hard front braking quickly traced to the crash bar impacting the fender. Took the fender off, no noise. A friend had a correct fender that lines up with mounting holes.

My question: Has anyone out there done something similar, I am looking to do either or both of adding length to the forks / installing raked trees to remedy the issue. Progressive recommends lowering the front end (using of course their products) but this will only decrease the distance between fender / wheel and crash bar and seems counter intuitive.

Any suggestions or real world wisdom?

If it was me it would go back to the shop that put it on and have them fix it right. That is unacceptable as far as I'm concerned if you let a finished product like that leave your shop.

Just my 2 cents

Not to sound dumb, but is 21" as big as you can go without raking out the front and still use the stock fender?

Yep anything bigger than 21 will not fit under stock fender, and anything over a 21 must be raked is what I have been told.

Thanx brother...that's what I thought, just wanted to be sure.

Is there any benefit from the 21" wheel, or is it all aesthetic?

Corey I've been "told" that it makes the bike ride a lot better. I have a 2014 SG, and can't imagine the ride getting that much better. Though I love the 21-18 set up, it's amazing what two extra inches does to the look of the bike. I would do it, but for the PM wheels I want, it'll run just over 5k....

Yeah, I've heard that...and I also heard it makes it less enjoyable too. I have an '09, and she tracks perfectly going down the highway, and the ride is phenomenal! But you're right, the look is outstanding!!! Now the price...

Yea mine tracks well too. I just wish Harley made that stock wheel on the 14 in vivid black as well. I love the look of that wheel, just can't shine that matte black.....

I replaced the stock front fender with a lower profile. Even if the 21" would fit under the stock fender my issue with the fender hitting the crashbar would still exist.
I have no issue with tracking or handling at all. Have ridden it on the Tail of the Dragon and down Needles Highway outside of Sturgis with this set up with no issue.

You said it would still exist if the stock fender was over the 21" wheel. Did it have this issue before you changed to the bigger wheel? Where is it hitting the crashbar at? Did you modify the crashbar at all when you went to the bigger wheel?

I was trying to get an idea of what you're talking about from your pictures...not happening.

I kept the stock front fender on mine and put a 21" on it. Can't tell any difference from the stock wheel.uploadfromtaptalk1441540586615.jpg
