Recommended upgrades?

Lights and exhaust are always a first. After that I'd recommend new rear shocks and bars.

Couldn't agree more. Now that I have done all three, I would do shocks, exhaust, handlebars, and lighting in that order. Never thought I would say this, but the best upgrade I have ever done is the shocks! Went from riding a brick to riding a real tourer!

What kind of shocks did you go with?

After much research, went with the 13" Legend Revo-A rear shocks. Very glad that I did. Sag is set to 12" so I still sit at the same height as before, but gain an extra inch of travel. The rebound damping works exactly as it should. Can't even begin to tell you how much wider the smile is now while riding. I expected some improvement in ride quality, but was really surprised at how much smoother and "in control" the bike feels now. I highly recommend these shocks, but they don't come at a bargain. However, they are 100% made in the USA and come with a lifetime warranty. I can attest to the build quality as well. They make the so-called premium shocks that came off the bike look like something off a Tonka toy, lol. Lots of info on their website and on You Tube.

When the bike is on the side stand, how does it sit? The same as stock, or higher? You're saying with you on it though, it is the same height as stock?

Looks the same to me on the side stand. With me on the bike it sits within 1/4" of height with stock. Measured bolt to bolt Centre on both stock and new shocks. On the new ones you adjust the springs to set the sag.
