Rider backrest...thoughts?

I have the HD adjustable/removable one. BEST investment so far for the bike, especially on longer trips.

I'm actually looking at getting the non adjustable one. Has anyone used the regular one to say Yea or nay?

Rider backrest...thoughts?

I've used the HD non-adjustable backrest for a couple of years. Once the tilt adjustment was fine tuned I've been very pleased with the comfort. It's removable as well. To be fair, I haven't tried the fully adjustable backrest.

Been there, done that, wasn't impressed. Get the Adjustable instead you'll like it better.

I didn't like it. For me, the backrest has to hit my lumbar. If it sits too high, it makes the ride worse. The non adjustable back rest was WAY too high, and the adjustable didn't adjust low enough. I ended up buying a LePera seat with a built in backrest and had to modify it to get it low enough. Still wasn't quite right though.

Thanks for those replies. I too need it on my lumbar otherwise I'll be slouched. With the adjustable one it looks a lot easier to mod the bar section than it is on the split bars of the fixed one. Well it's on my wish list, and probably the next purchase when the wallet allows.

I have the non-adjustable one and it is fine for me...if there's any doubt, go for the adjustable one...you'll spend more in the long run if you buy the non-adjustable and its not right. BTW, I bought mine off eBay cheap, but the adjustable type are in high demand so you may not be able to buy it from eBay.

The adjustable version is great. the longer I ride I can adjust it so it makes me sit straighter and reduces the fatigue on my back and shoulders

Most of the backrests I see are too tall for me, I lowered mine by cutting the plastic inside and shoving the pots up higher. Another solution is to section the post and get it welded. Mine hits my lumbar area now, before it made me slouch forward.

Grasshopper seat works for me.
It sits right on top of the seat cushion so right at the lumbar spot.
