Street Glide owner rides Road Glide for the first time. Trade?

Yes it would be nice to hear if there is a switch in the future or staying with the cooler street glide.

Update: I haven't ridden a 107 Street Glide yet. I plan to ride one soon. My Street Glide is a Non ABS Street Glide, so I was impressed by the ABS also.
3 things that made the biggest impression on me was the power, the ABS and how the mini apes felt. All of these things I can get on Streetie, so I think it is all going to come down to the look.
What do you guys think? You think the wind against the fairing is that big of a deal? It doesn't really bother me, but I've heard so many people say it does make a difference. Maybe I'm used to it.
This is my top concerns that got me to thinking about trading.
#1 Shoulder pain after about 150 miles of riding.
#2 ABS
The first can be fixed with new bars. The second cant be fixed without trading up.
Whatever I trade for, I'm going to have to change the bars. Stock bars in a comfortable riding position hits my knees when I turn sharply. I have to roll the up to clear my knees, putting my wrist in an awkward position, giving me shoulder pain after riding.
Please give me any input that will be helpful in making my decision. I plan to ride from Tennessee to California soon. That's over 2000 miles one way. I'd like to do it as comfortable as possible.
Thanks for watching and reading, I'll keep you posted on what I decide.

If the road glide is as stable in the wind as everyone says, it must be pretty good. That was the first thing I noticed going from my Switchback to the street glide was the stability in wind. Dyna got pushed around by wind all the time!

I have had 1 Ultra and 3 Street Glides. I kept hearing all the hype about the Road Glide, so I tried a new one out. I was not impressed. It could have been that it had a shorty windshield, I don’t know. I bought a new Street Glide after the Road Glide test.

Spent a little time on a road glide but for me I like the street glide. Having the weight I can feel makes me feel at ease or more in control I guess. Don't get me wrong I hear good things about the frame mounted fairings and the very light steering. The wind thing is the biggest improvement from what I understand and just had a buddy trade his street for a road. As for the bars how tall are you I'm 6-1 and went with 16 inch bars and that made all the difference in the world for me. I can ride from sun up to sun set with no shoulder pain and before I did the bars I hurt after 15 minutes.

Keep us posted on what you end up choosing

TomA, Im 6 foot 5. My concern with the Ape Hangers is slow parking lot turning and tight cornering.
Did you have to extend your wiring?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to stay on a Street Glide. I like the looks of them better. The Road Glide isn't bad looking but the truth is, looking at it from the seat forward just seems weird and unfinished. I like the bike from every angle except from what I'll be looking at the most when im riding it.The Street Glide inner fairing looks nicer. The Road Glides inner fairing reminds me of a 1980s Goldwing. A Craco tape deck wouldn't look out of place in it, something about looks dated, out of the 80s even with the Nav screen.

Took a couple of rides but I can do slow speed maneuvers and scrape the floor boards like you can with the stock ones. Yes it cost more for the new lines and wire then the bars will cost but the difference is amazing. Rode a brothers street with 14's and knew I had to go taller but they were still better then stock. Best thing to do is ask to sit on a bike with apes most guys will let you do that if you start asking questions and want a test fit.

Can I ask what can I expect to pay for new bars, longer lines and wires? Rough estimate?

When is the best time to travel through Arizona? Ill be heading out West coming through that way to CA. Is there a certain month better than others?

Your looking at 800 to 1,200 depending on the color and quality of lines and what bars you chose if you do the work yourself. Have a indy shop do it add 3 to 500 and if Harley dose it 1000 to 2500. I went with stainless braided lines because I like the chrome look. Too many choices on bars but if I had to do it again I would go factory 47 bars highest of quality and easy to wire. You can get a list (that I can't seem find) and get the lines from other dealers cheaper then Harley, Summit racing comes to mind.

Lol. So true. Every bit of it. I'd liken the view the rider gets to that of an 80's snowmobile

My old bike was a road glide. I liked the old fairing, it was larger and heavier. Now the new design seems too light.
When you are doing 80 or 90 down the highway, that rg front end bounces around like a bouncy ball 🤪

November through march are the cool months, but feature snow birds. If you're looking to enjoy the state while here, October and March-may are warm and out of snowbird season. With that said, if you're considering a northern route like along the i40 you may consider October, or March thru may to avoid the ice and snow. A more southern route comes down to how hot you can handle.

If your going to go through there in the winter stay to the southern route but you will still have some passes to get through to get there, weather can be sketchy.
