I am thinking about a tour pak for my '14 sgs I am picking up Saturday. I Will add genuine HD 4 point hardware but I am not sure i wanna spend 2000 for a genuine HD pak just yet. Will the quick disconnetct trunk mount for a '14 work with the ebay tour paks? Whats the quality of them? Has anyone on here used one?

Thinking about anything you buy will bolt up to the 4 point hardware. Just be careful I hear some of these can be really poor quality. If you shop around you can pick up a color matched tour pack with all the fixings between 1500 and 1800. Go check out Kutter and Hornytoad for their prices.

I have been looking into the King Tour Pak for mine as well. The parts book says the color matched one is about $850 plus $200 for the quick disconnect hardware. Did the dealer quote you 2 grand? If so I would shop around.

$ 1700.00 Soup to nuts here. Took 1 month to get it. Thats also with the key to match the bike and the lock on the tour pack

Ouch 1700 is about what I was quoted but I think I needed hardware too! More than I want to spend right now! 23k was enough to spend in one day, let alone a month or two. I think I will try the cvo style ebay trunk for now

A buddy of mine bought the matzua(spelling?) off of eBay... Latches wouldn't stay latched... Mtg plate had to be redrilled... Hinges were cheap as hell. He replaced the latches with oem he bought from some guy on eBay that taps out the holes and provides correct button head screws. Also, replaced hinges with oem HD . The paint however matched very well( vivid black ) The moral of this story in my opinion is... Buy the tour pak without hardware from after market source... Get oem hardware. He also was able to have them swap out the backrest for the smaller one without armrests at no charge ... Hope this helps.

If you wait for one of the online parts stores to have a true 20% off sale you can get the basic HD pak for $1083 shipped. Only thing other than this is 2 #8 screws for mounting the lock.
Didn't want to be disappointed with a cheap aftermarket pak and have more than $500 in it.
These prices were from surdyke when they had full 20% off and free shipping, but the still charged $21 for the oversized shipping.

52300312 T-PAK BACKREST, KING, SMOOTH - $167.96
53000221 DETACH TWO-UP TOUR-PAK MOUNTING RACK -$159.96
53000399DTF KING T-PAK, SOLID CHARCOAL PEARL -$679.96
90300030 T-PAK LOCK KIT -$44.26
Grand Total: $1,082.36

Sounds like a great deal... where's the hardware? Does it all come with something in the list? Mounting hardware for TP rack.... and hinges, latches and locks hardware?

Yes, everything was included with the pak. Latch, hinges and the mounting bolts for the pak to mount to the detachable rack are permenant to the base plate, i think I actually received the nuts to connect the quick disconnect rack to the pak with the tour pak and the rack.
Of course you also need the 4 point dock, but I already had that for the sissy bar.
The new style is huge really, I kinda wish I got the chopped pak but I like the king pak maybe later I'll buy a chopped and change it out from time to time.

Solex's price is right in the wheelhouse of what I paid. I believe it was $1152 with tax from the local Harley shop. Has matched keys and cokor. I have the 4 point dock in place already.....

HD version is the best.. Aftermarket ones come with a different locking system. The HD version is one hand simple just like the Rushmore lids. I spent around 1400 complete.

I looked at the paint to match unit last summer and with the backrest, lighting, hardware, luggage rack etc. Its waaay up there!

I've been eyeing a tour pak too. Cheapest place I've currently found the paint match tour pak is manchesterharley. Shop around, the deals seem to come and go.

How about this question? Has anyone mounted a 2009-2013 king pak on to a quick detach 2014 bracket?

It can be done

It can be done

Yes I mounted a 2013 Razor Pac to my 2014 detachable mount. Came out Beautiful. There is one draw back to my set up! I have to detach my Pac to open bags. Razor Pac is wider than the new Pac so lids actually hits Pac while trying to open them!

I use my pre-Rushmore tourpack on my 14 sg without an issue and can open the saddlebags just fine. I used the 2009-13 mount for the tourpack as opposed to the 14+ bracket for this very reason after reading lots about it on the net. You can also make a shimm that will slightly raise the tourpack so that the saddlebags will clear........search around a bit and you'll find lots of stuff on this over at that other HD place :D

Well here is an update:

I bought an 09-13 cvo style TP off of Coltons_Customs on ebay and the docking system and '14 qd bracket from Surdyke in case I wanted a real tour pak someday, I would have all real HD parts. The mounting hardware was a little tricky to get just perfect, its still a little snug, the qd rotating hardware is still pretty tight. Now lets talk about the TP, its does the job well but the paint quality is pure sh!t! The lid of the TP has finger smudges, nipples, ripples and runs. The sides of the tub has runs and ripples too. The "rack" it came with went right to the powder coater to have it cleaned up and shot black, the welds/brazzing is the worst quality ever! My only saving grace is that after asking 6 or 7 times for some sort of refund, the seller gave me $100 bucks back. Now I only have $350 into the cheap TP so now I can get it painted.

I dont wish I saved my money because it functions great, my wife loves it and the seat back is actually done very well! I would post pics if I wasnt completely a newb....

My razor Pac was 800.00 bucks the hardware kits that they said I needed that the charge me 500.00 bucks for that I truly didn't need! I change my fender at the same time I installed my razor Pac. I only needed the detachable kit and the hardware that attaches to bike! Now that I know I could have spent 140.00 for detachable kit and hardware. They sell you crap you don't need! The saddle bag lights I didn't need the relocation of antenna kit I didn't needed. I did the reroute of the antenna under seat. No issues with reception. Paid 20 bucks for matching keys and 30 bucks detachable locks. You can realistic place HD equipment for under 1200 bucks.
