Vance and Hines 2-1 Pro Pipe for my 2014 SGS (Install )

Duals looks "even"... agreed... but the 2-1 performance cannot be out done with duals...

Went for performance on the Fatboy with VH 2-1 Big Radius so the SGS is for looks. All personal preference

Welp, I pulled the trigger today with PC Pain to purchase the Pro Pipe and SE Heavy Breather and a few other things. I guess between this and the Jac-Knife's, I'll have my hands full this weekend.... Good thing it's supposed to rain.

Edit: Oh ya and my softbrake extended shifters and extended brake lever.

Very cool.. you will be happy

Well, I have a box sitting at home waiting for me that has my exhaust and AC and tomorrow will be the fuelpak and jack. It's like Christmas in August.. lol I'm going to start the install tomorrow and hopefully not take me too long, but I'm going to be slow and methodical as it'll be my first, but I am ready, boy am I ready.

Take your time... no rush. Make sure you dont over-tighten the heat shields or slight deformation csn be seen... ask me how I know... lol

Also... after your first ride... recheck all your bolts and nuts... retighten

Thanks! I already have to take the AC back as they let me order the model for the '13 even though they asked me what year... So not happy about that.

P.S. I have yours in the car but didn't get to lunch to hit the USPS location, but it'll go tomorrow.

Any progress yet? I know the AC pissed you off... it would me too....

I haven't started yet as I just got the J&S Jack put together tonight and pre-season football starts tomorrow ;), so I will probably wait until this weekend when it cools down, mid to high 90's and then goes into the low 80's and rain to start the work. Plus with this dilemma, I don't want to start and it be wrong.

EDIT: I removed the information about the Heavy Breather as I wasn't comparing apples to apples. The link I had on HD's website was not the same model I purchased. Sorry for confusion for those that already viewed this post.

Well I started the removal and installation of the ProPipe and feel like that I've gotten pretty far, however I am stuck with getting the header pipes back into the jugs properly and straight. I think my biggest problem is the heat shields being in the way of seeing. Help is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe you can put the heat sheild after the install is complete.

Blue, the destructions call for the shields to be on when you mount the header pipes. However I took of the shields for the rear cylinder to look at the connection and it seems the flange of the head pipe doesn't fit the size hole of the cylinder jug... Also, the Pro Pipe Header flange doesn't look like it's tapered like the stock head pipe, as you can see above from one of Spazz's pix.

Well I think I bit off more than I could chew on this one. I got the AC completed perfectly fine, exhaust not so much. I guess now I need to figure out how to get someone to fix, since the exhaust is all torn apart and I don't have a trailer.

Thanks for your wonderful thread and help Spazz, but now I need to admit defeat and find the professionals to resolve.

Thanks.

There is a difference in the style of flange between stock and aftermarket in our case.. they are different and will seal. The flanges DO NOT go all the way in. If they did, you would not be able to tighten up the bolts against the lip of the flange. What I see in the pic is a well seated header pipe. I see no reason to call out to a shop to have them do what you can do... you are there!

I can truly understand if you decide to call someone, but I don't think you need to. Once you place in the rear header and have the nuts started, start the front.... neither have to be fully seated at this point. .. everything will be loose.

Now holding the rear pipe in place, snug the flange bolts.. not tight. Move to the front, you will need to wiggle the pipe to get it to seat, it will flex.. snug the bolts while holding in place. Make sure the flanges are evenly spaced and not crooked. if they are loosen the side that is too close and tighten the other until they are evenly spaced.... then torque them.

I hope this helps.....

Thanks for the confidence, both you and Blue and providing more information. I am just worried of creating issues with the iron of the jug and causing issues to the jug itself or having an exhaust leak. I don't really want to take it somewhere, but the fear of screwing up a +20K investment, that's 4 months old and having to pay more on top of that is what sucks the most.

I am going to think about it a little more as I haven't called anyone on it yet.
