I just ordered these headers and need advice on changing the gaskets, should I use the ones that come with it or go buy Screaming Eagle gaskets or somehig else. I have a 2016 Strret Glide Special. thanks in advance

Have tried multiple types. Use the same type that come with the bike new. The tapered. They work best.

I have the power duals also and have had them off and on still running the stock exhaust gaskets. Unless a big chunk comes off you shouldn't have to change them. Also pay attention to the spacer needed on the floor board for room.

Good luck

Thanks Gentlemen After much reading, I am going to use the tapered from Harley. There has to be a reason Harley uses that type. Thanks for all your help.

I won't disagree with reusing the factory gaskets as I'm no expert, but I would go with new to be sure you don't have any leaks. I also noticed that the factory headers are slightly tapered where they meet the gaskets. Vance & Hines power duals are not tapered. Based on this reason alone I used the flat gaskets that came with the headers.

If you look at the flange differences between the taper of stock and non tapered of the powerduals... you will also notice the non tapered is not as thick either. I know of two brothers that went the way of non tapered gaskets and they both leaked since the flanges bottomed out on the studs before they sealed.... tlstick with tapered stock gaskets

Well I went and installed the Vance and Hines power duals with the eliminator 400 slip ons and the sound is incredible, different bike. I ended up using the tapered washers from Harley. I had a little difficulty getting them in. I ended up assembling the flange without the pipes and tightening it little by little to get it seated properly.
