I have just upgraded my 14 SG with the Boom Stage I speakers and the 300w fairing amp. Is there any gain adjustments on the amp? I still have to crank it up just under max to hear it going 70 and wanted to adjust it up a bit.

Did you have it flashed for the amp at the dealership? IF not... there is your problem

I've heard this same story several times from others regarding the Boom upgrades.

Even with my "cheaper" Hogtunes amp and speakers, I can't turn it up past about 50% even at 75 + mph (std windscreen). It is LOUD. Something doesn't seem right?

Boom sucks... plain and simple... HD makes quality motorcycles... not quality audio systems

Yes. They flashed it twice to get it right.

3rd time a charm? Sorry. Couldn't resist... it really depends on the knowledge of the HD TECH in regard to digital technician software and procedures

Well I have to agree with Spazz on this to an extent. I have the full boom set up and it sounds pretty darn good and it is loud. Now here comes the but it doesn't hold a candle to what he is running. If your going to spend the money go with the soundz set up its not much more. You will be happier in the long run.

Jay, trust me when I say "I already spent my money." Lol. HD got it all on the audio side. I know I could have had better and now it's louder but I still have to crank up the bars...

Hey everyone. Newbie here. Been reading all the audio stuff and getting a little worried now. Purchased a RF PBR 300 watt amp and a pair of Hertz 6.5" speakers before coming across any of this info on here. Thought this would be a simple install but now I'm not so sure. Will I have to modify the speaker pods and do a flash and all that? Thanks

Yep on the flash... or you can run Biketronics Line Levelers or Cycle Sounds Magic Box.... it's up to you... I heard BT'S work better than magic box, but no personal experience. The pods may need modifying and it's simple... I have videos for the pod mods that I posted on YouTube

Or you could check out Biketrinonics speaker brackets and not use your pods? They have a bracket kit that may work well?

I have all boom stage 1... Amp and saddlebag speakers too! it sounds awesome!!!! guys ahead of me and behind me can hear it going down the road. I must admit that there are a few song that the bass sounds a little funky tho, only in a certain range and if its all a continuous bass line.

I have the stage 1 boom and a RF amp. Sounds great, but for some strange reason, my radio freezes, music plays but the time and everything else just stays froze almost like a computer. After I ride for a while, almost as if the bike has to warm up, everything goes back to normal. Any clue why? Also when I crank the bike up, it sometimes completed restarts radio, and disconnects Bluetooth

Honestly, I've had the RF setup with the boom stage 1 for some time now. The amp blew one of the speakers, dunno if it was a factory defect in terms of the speaker, or that the booms just can't handle the after market amp.

Quite frankly tho, the speakers are not that great. I think I'm going to go with the infinity kappas or another superior speaker. Just gotta find that thread where another guy detailed how to make the infinitys fit into the speaker pods....

The BPR has high level inputs so you won't need a line level converter, but RF does recommend flashing the radio to flatten the EQ curve. Instruction on that are here...

Finding a tech that can do it is another issue. Sure would make life easier if we could download Digital Technician and do this stuff ourselves.
