Does anybody know anything about a second hydraulic clutch a recall on the 2014 street glide? I received a call today from the service manager at my local Harley dealer that I needed to bring it in for a second clutch recall. Thoughts?

Is HD supposed to notify owners or are you just supposed to have known about it?

I got mine done last week. They rebuilt the clutch M/C and it took about 30 minutes. Some dealers have held back on notifications due to parts availability.

Yep I'm waiting for parts should be next week.

I had mine done last week, figured I'd beat the crowd and the possibility of the dealer running out of the parts once the notices went out. Again, thanks to this forum for keeping me informed.

IF they called you... that is a good dealer being pro-active. This means their shipment of parts is in and they did there due diligence to contact their customers BEFORE Moco issued it to you in the mail.

Get down there and let them rebuild the clutch master cylinder... it only takes about an hour.

Just got home from a trip, no notice or call yet, slackers. I'll be calling them as soon as the rain lets up, can't ride anyway.

FYI....

You ALL should be pro-active on this recall.... Go to MOCO's site and check your VIN against the recall.

If you are on the list... call your dealer and get your sled in as soon as you can. If you wait... you could be in line on the wait-list to get it done.

Luckily... some of us have NOT had issues, but some have... DON'T WAIT FOR ISSUES WITH YOUR CLUTCH!!! It can be very dangerous AND expensive in the end...

GET ON IT!!!

Respectively..I think all others responding to this thread have answered your question...I am another one who had received a call regarding the latest recall. My dealer stated that they are calling customers direct because of how serious this recall is. My dealer actually saw me 2 hours after calling me & they performed my clutch master retrofit in 1 hr.... The parts they replaced regarding the clutch master cylinder were the "piston & sleeve" and that was that... hope everyone stays safe out there & good luck with your recalls...Chris

When I looked up my vin# on HD factory site...this is the clutch recall wording from Harley...

"""SAFETY RISK
If the primary cup (seal) on the master cylinder piston develops a tear, then the system may lose the ability to maintain sufficient lift to keep the clutch disengaged. If this condition remains undetected, it could allow the motorcycleto "creep" forward from a stop, which could lead to a loss of control of the vehicle possibly causing a crash"""

REMEDY
Owners of the affected motorcycles will be asked to arrange service with an authorized Harley-Davidson dealer, who will confirm that the motorcycle or part is covered by this recall. If covered, the dealer will rebuild the clutch mastercylinder using the recall kit provided. This service will be provided at no charge to the customer.

We strongly urge you to take your motorcycle to your dealer to have the appropriate service performed as soon as possible. Should you choose to ride your motorcycle prior to this service, we urge you to be aware of this condition. Some product campaigns may have expired and you may have to pay for the service. Please see your local Harley-Davidson dealer for further details.

I did not receive a call or letter yet so while I was in the area of the dealership were I bought my bike today for work. I stoped in and asked about the recall so it looks like I'm taking my bike in tomorrow at 10am to have the recall done on my bike. Looks like I will be taking a nice hr. long ride first thing in the am. It was only in the hi 40s this morning I my have to dress warm tomorrow LOL

I got my notice today but had mine done last Friday. Double on the thanks to the members of this site for getting the message out there before the MOCO did! It probably saved me time too.
