I need some help with this. I have everything hooked up right(double checked) but can't get it to work. Do you need a flash to make it work?

Do not need a flash, what pigtail do you have it tapped into in the faring?

No... no flash is needed ( as far as I know )
Press the PTT button on left hand control to activate... you should get an audible BEEP from the system which is then waiting for a command. If a valid command is given and heard by the system, the command will be executed.
Let me know what it's doing or NOT doing.....
1. you are using the TAN P&A AUDIO connector with 11 wires .... you are tapping into #1 and #3 of this plug....
2. you have the pos and neg on the jack correct... pos going to the tip and black going to the base
Everything is connected as you describe I get an audible beep when you press the PTT and then say 98.1 and nothing happens . I have tried different connections with pos and neg but no luck. I used positap for connections also checked these they appear to be making contact with the wire . I even checked the wire for conductivity. I checked the current when pressing the PTT and I don't get anything.
Thanks... is that a mono jack or stereo jack? I only see two tabs, so i will assume its a mono 3.5mm jack
It looks like you have all the connections correct... Is the mic post making good connection within the jack itself? you should be able to see into it and verify

Try the top two tabs that are parallel..... pos hooked to the contact point closest to the tip and neg to the other.... thats the way mine is.... that may be the issue ( I hope )
So you have had it on a while...how is it working for you and how does it work for you when rolling?Finished install of mic setup yesterday on my 2015 FLHX. Works great! Thanks Spazz.Only difference is that I can only make and answer calls via radio dash buttons. Tried PTT button on left handle bar, no luck. Might have to go read manual, maybe something isn't set up?

So I finally got a rainy day to work on this mic again. When I originally hooked it up I connected to the red wire on the tan harness. I assumed this was pin 1, there was a black wire 2 spots over so I thought black wire pin 3 . Made sense to me anyway, I hooked them up and it was a no go, I tried different wire combinations on the 3mm Jack and nothing worked. Today I see there is another black wire on the bottom row that I hadn't previously seen or thought of because I was sure I had the right wires. Hooked to that black wire and presto I've got a working mic. Soooo now I can thank Spazz for another awesome bike mod.

Sorry guys.... I was going thru my online directories and had to change some stuff around and broke the links....
fixed now in post #1 and #2....
Doing this next weekend. Just ordered parts on Amazon. For folks installing on SGS's...where are you mounting the female connector? Same place as he did on the RG? Pretty nervous about drilling into my batwing fairing!
