$25 Bike Mic- HOW TO MAKE IT WORK!

Doesn't beer s stretch out project times? LOL

David

IT sure does... but you can still polish 4 beers and still get it done in an hour... LOL!!! I did... and it worked the very first time!

my bike does not have the PTT button on the right hand control. I just have the voice recognition button on the left hand control.
You should have capabilities to control radio, usb music, and phone since you don't have navigation.... but I am not 100% sure... do you have the PTT button next to left blinker? Then YES.

Damn it Spazz!!!

Did this mod and now I like it so much I purchased a Ultra Console with the comm connection, powder coated it black and ordered the AKE Bluetooth Helmet Connector

Can't wait till it gets here but it from Germany...

BTW bud thanks using the voice commands is nice!

Finished install of mic setup yesterday on my 2015 FLHX. Works great! Thanks Spazz. Only difference is that I can only make and answer calls via radio dash buttons. Tried PTT button on left handle bar, no luck. Might have to go read manual, maybe something isn't set up?

Sorry for sideways pics:confused:

That is weird....You can't give voice commands to make a call? or are you saying you can't answer? I have made calls, but never took one yet....

You should be able to press the PTT
say >CALL 12345667890

I have my contacts synced and just say the name " CALL DANA "

I tried again today and was able to make a call. I'm using an IPhone 5. Very slow response time after pushing button, I guess I wasn't being patient enough. Also had to talk loud, got a lot of "pardon" responses.

UPDATE:

I went to the dealer to flash and activate the INTERCOM to see if this would allow volume adjustment of the mic.... NOPE!!!

So... don't bother with it...

Also... I called Chaderick for a test call to see how well he could here me over the 120ST and THX pipe.... idle... he could barely here the bike... and heard me fine... of course I have to raise my voice to here myself, but doesn't make a difference on the other end according to Chad.

2000rpms... bike was a little more prominent and I raised my voice more to get over the decibels of the pipe, but he still heard me clearly....

Finally... 3000 rpms... same thing... bike was a bit more prominent and yet he could here me clearly and pipe was not a factor.

I have had a few guys do this mod and have heard that they have spoken to their wives on the freeways 70-75 mph with no problems....and these were Batwing bikes ( for the record ).

Just wanted to share a bit of success from tests and others.....

ordering my mic today, the noise cancellation ability of that mic is unreal.
I am sure I will have to call you during my install, you now me.......I always need a little help

I'm curious if the on-star mic isn't as sensitive as the other that spazz is using? I kind of prefer the jack and 3.5 hook up. It could be removed in rain. Is on star mic weather proof?

I have no personal experience with the ONSTAR mic... the guy that turned me onto this used it on his SGS... I doubt they are waterproof since they are mounted inside cars and trucks. He said it works great... but I can't vouch for the performance of it.

Either mic is around $20... so if you like the Olympus.... get it... I KNOW it works GREAT

Thanks Spazz,Happy New Year to all. 25 degrees out getting dressed for New Year's Day ride, probably be a short one

Thanks to Spazz for the help with the install.
