This is a simple project and works....

so tell me what you did and lets see if we can figure this out.....gotta be something simple.

I unplugged pin one (red) and pin 3 (black) wired alligator clips to the 3.5 mm jack and it just didn't work. I put a multi meter on the wires and there is no power going to it either. All the fuses look good too.

Meter won't get you anything as far as I know without activation of PTT button... otherwise its dead.

you are using the RED ( #1 )and BLACK ( #3 ) from the TAN P&A Audio harness ( 11 wires ) correct? The RED goes to the top of the jack that touches the the tip of the mic... and the other is NEG. Once you have this done... turn on your system.... wait for a complete boot ( about 1 minute ). Hit the PTT and say " TUNE TO 105.7" the radio should tune to that freq. Try it again with your favorite station.

Take a few pics and let me see what you did...

Yes I am using the wires from the tan harness. I'll give it another shot probably won't be till next weekend though. Thanks for the info.

When you do... hit me up and maybe we can get you hooked up... I'll PM you my number.....we can text or talk... either one....

I had read further up and one member mentioned his was working but slow, I thinking maybe I didn't give it enough time. If the problem persists I'll hit you up. Thanks again for your help.

Spazz I have a 14 SG. Could you tell me exactly what I need. I have a drill, but no solder.....I like the mic you have, and if you can vouch for freeway speeds, I'll got with that one....

On my police motor, I talk all the time and it's so convenient. It sucks when I'm on my personal bike and can't make calls. I was gonna go with the entire Sena setup, woulda ran over $300. Thanks man, you're awesome

I was chatting with a few guys online and got an idea from one of them and thought I would give it a shot since it was only $25.....

Basically... you hardwire a microphone into the Infotainment.. I went a step further and installed a 3.5mm jack hardwired into the Infotainment and used a 3.5mm noise-cancelling mic. It's not hard and works with the PPT button on the left hand control!

I started with the mic... found some really good reviews on this one and for $18... I bought it.

I went down to radio Shack and bought the 3.5mm jack in a 2-pack for $4 mono or stereo will work, just have to solder the correct connections.

Looking at the P&A Audio plug diagram... pin #1 ( RED ) and pin #3 (BLACK ) are the Positive and Negative for the mic... so... to check it out before hard wiring.. I unpinned #1 and #3... alligator clipped them to the 3.5mm jack to test... IT WORKED!

Time to mod.... now I won't go into detail since I did this on my RGS... but I completely believe there is more than enuf room to do this in the EXACT location in regard to the Infotainment system on the SGS.

I've found a solder, and that exact Olympus mic, since you vouched for the freeway speeds capabilities, ordering from Amazon. Do you have a close up of that 3.5mm Jack? And also, from the pics, I don't see where you wired the Jack into the bike? '14SG

uploadfromtaptalk1453050647445.jpg here is the jack... $4 for two of them at Radio Shack

There are 2 connections that Y off the back of the head unit... the TAN one is the one you want.. it's the 12 wire connector. Pin #1 is red (pos) and pin #3 is BLACK (neg) you can unpin them or use positaps. Pic of the connection in my first post... same connector is used from 2014-2016... P&A Audio connector is TAN

Ok. I think I found one on Amazon. Ok, does it come with the wires, and where do I hard wire it in to?

You supply your own wire... 14g -16g wire is fine... solder your connections on the jack once you test it. All pics above show the wiring and writeup explains it as well

I bet they already know, but decided to leave their couple hundred dollar WIRED add-on as is to make more money... it's not all that complicated and can't understand why they wouldn't do this in the first place.....
