Manual Shock Adjustment

When I bought my SGS last month I had the dealer adjust the shock to the middle as I did not want to mess with it and my wife does ride occassionally. Today I went to adjust it myself just so I knew how to do it. Like the manual said I turned it all the way counter clockwise to the minimal preload. Based on the scale (I am 180 lbs) plus my saddle bags I was going to go to the "1" position. The manual says every click is a "half" so I figured I needed two clicks. I heard the first click and kept going but never got to the second one. And the knob got very tight so I stopped and went back to the first click before I messed something up. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

You are doing it right, but I believe a "Click" is a full turn so you can mark it that way. There is also markings on the shock that correlate to the settings noted in the manual.

The clicks after the first are basically not audible, unless you're a bat. I started at the first click and counted the detents that I felt. Turn it slow and you should feel the detents.
