Hey all,

I am a HD newbie, I've only rid metric sportbikes for the majority of my life. I decided to purchase a Street Glide 2 weeks ago and I haven't had a chance to upgrade anything, but I am I need of a sissy bar. Just curious, before I go out and buy something, what docking kit do I need or the stock bike already comes with what i need?

All I find is 4 point docking kits, I am hesitant in buying one since I only want a sissy bar and not a luggage rack or touring pak.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the fun. Not sure if they make a 2 point docking system for the 14 and newer bikes. The four point is what most people install but you only use the front 2 docking points for the sissy bar as the front part goes on your shocks. You should be able to see the docking system if it's installed on your bike. Pretty simple install if you don't have one already. Most dealer put these on as a bonus but I know some don't.

Check out the free classified section of the forum I thought I saw a set of 2 point docking hardware listed there don't know if they would fit your bike.

15 SGS Amber Whiskey; ThunderMax tuner; Ceramic True Duel headers; 4.5 inch RC Exhaust slip ons ;LED turn signals/ run lights; passenger backrest; one inch passenger and rider floorboard extensions;stage one air cleaner.

I would get a 4 point. Doesn't look bad and then if you ever did decide to put a luggage rack or tour pack on then you don't have to buy another one.

Hi Daniel, welcome,
Addressing your questions here and in other postings;
I would get the four point docking hardware because you will eventually want to add a luggage rack not only for trips but you will find it very useful on a daily basis as time goes by.
In a different posting here you inquired about windshield height. I am an inch shorter than your 6'-5". My carefully chosen options include;
10" Wind Vest brand windshield
2" extended Softbrake brand brake pedal
1-1\2" extended Softbrake brand forward shifter arm
1" forward extended HD floor board pans with aftermarket 7/8" outward extensions.
Mustang Summit seat which really rocks for big and tall guys.
Have fun researching and customizing.

Go with the 4 point and get the magnetic caps that match (black or Chrome) and put them over the mounting studs. Looks good and you'll have the extra if you ever need it.

I've never heard of the magnetic caps. Do you have more info or pics?

caps

caps

Got them on my bike. The dealer will know what your talking about. Don't think they are very expensive.Also go with the 4 point. Will work out better in the long run.

Bought these from HD. I like the look and figure they also shield the plastic bushings from the sun and becoming brittle over time.

Oh they say HD on the package so they are expensive 40 bucks a pair but still worth it in the looks Department I think.

I have the black.

Yeah, 80 bucks for 4 of those little covers is a but much, but I suppose I've spent more on less before

Way to expensive for me. More useful stuff I could buy for 80 bucks

Does anyone recommend any aftermarket 4 point dock? Harleys is a bit pricey but I'll pay if its worth it.

Get the HD docking system, but buy it from an online HD dealer that offers 20% off, and no tax. (surdyke.com)
