Opinion. Do you think saddlebag guards mess with the lines of the bike?

I know, I know. Scratched saddlebags from a dropped bike would look worse... (maybe lol), but I'm wondering what you think?

As far as the side profile of the Street Glide goes, it has that Buffalo or lion look, where the front is huge and tapers back to a small back side. I think that looks cool, but I'm hesitant to mess that up with rear guards. I don't want to go with black, because my bike is black denim, and the shiny black would kind of clash. I have a lot of chrome already, so that's the route I'd go.

Anyway, opinions and pictures welcome

Nothing against those who like. Just quoting my opinion. I prefer cleaner lines.

I prefer cleaner lines too but it's a double edge sword. Kind of like the front fork deflectors, ugly as can be but they work so well !

Lol. Everybody is so different. See, I have the fork deflectors, and l actually really like how they look

If / when Murphy rares his ugly head and that bike gets dropped and the bag messed up you will wish you had them...... I think there is a balance between form and function.

I originally contemplated removing the engine crash bars. realized it would be a mistake even though it would look better. What made me make the jump to saddlebag bars was something I read that seemed to make sense.
Someone who appeared to have experience wrote that without saddlebag bars if you did drop your bike it was much harder to get back up. They pointed out that there was no hand grip without them and stated that as you attempted to stand the bike back up the back end would tend to slide on the bags.
I like mine but almost always prefer naked bikes.

My SGS is charcoal pearl and I believe the black saddlebag guards would look best. Planning to get a set soon. I think the black ones work the best on the darker colored paints and I like the chrome on the lighter color paints. That's my opinion and you got what you paid for.

Another picture. You hardly notice black on black.

Skeeter, is that a stock paint job with the blue flames or after market? That looks nice!
