I have a 2013 streetglide. Want to compare hd oem hard lowers to aftermarket. Any body go through this process. Factory Fairing is one company. I believe Badlands is another. Any Other American made companies to consider ? Thanks

My brother has a 13, he bought the Matuza (sp?) ones, they were less expensive than the HD ones for sure, not as sturdy but they weren't as bad as I thought they might be. If you only need black it's a cheaper alternative. I have the Daytona Blue so I just bought mine from one of the online HD dealers. Something to consider also, are you going to put speakers in them or not, and get the quick release hardware for them.

Well, after a couple of weeks of researching aftermarket Fairing Lowers, I ordered mine today for half the cost of the HD units. There are actually about 4 different versions: Non-Vented, Vented, models to use on bikes up to 2013. and 2 different types for 2014-16 ( Air cooled and water cooled). Some have snap doors and others magnetic doors. I ended up purchasing a set from Fairing Factory at:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HARLEY-2014-...-/131238266188

These have magnetic doors, Vent doors made from metal not plastic and come with BOTH storage pockets AND Speaker pockets! I balked at first because the shipping was $59, The set is $249. But, when I priced other version, you still had snap doors, and most did not include install hardware. All of this is included and they come already assembled!
I will post some pics once I finish with them as they come only in HD black. All this is moot to me as I intend to paint mine to match my bike's color and add HD's pocket felt liners which I got practically free due to Santa's gift card. I was going to run them only during the cold winter months but I chose the units with the mesh grill instead of solid panel and that way I can add a thin piece of Plexiglas over them in cold weather and remove it for flow in warm/hot weather. If you're thinking of fairing lowers yourselves check this company out, the reviews are awesome and the make all years versions. I should have them mid week as they shipped with a tracking # the same day I ordered them.

By the way, they make Tourpaks, speaker lids, extended bags and other goodies too!

Well my Fairing Factory Lowers arrived today complete with BOTH storage and speaker housings. The quality, fit and finish just blew me away. They were completely assembled and all hardware was included.
If you are looking at aftermarket to save $$ over OEM, these met my pickey expectations plus! Now off to paint shop for a Mysterious Red paint job.

You are making this a rough decision. The only thing I don't like about the ones you got, are the vents that let air through. But, I like all the other features such as the magnetic doors and metal vent hardware.

Can't wait to see them painted and installed Mojo. Seeing them on your bike may change my mind about putting some on mine.

Great info Mojo, how does it compare to HD after you pay for paint? I have the morroco gold which I don't think matched easy by 3rd party.

msquad- Check out their website, they have several models available. I plan to cut a piece of clear Plexiglas to fit behind the screens for winter riding and then remove them for summer riding (my plan all along).
I'm not planning to use the speaker pods, somebody will want them but I did buy the OEM felt liners from HD.

Let me know what you have to pay for the Misterious Red paint
I would like to do the same thing.

The Red Sunglo paint alone is $120 for 8 oz which doesn't include the silver base or clear coat.

For anyone interested, I messaged the seller and they informed me that in March there will be a version that does not have the vent.

Just throwing this out there but I have heard you can't run the Harley fork fangs or fork wind deflectors. Better test it before you scratch your paint job. I would check it out there is a private company out there that makes them for the Ultras. Pretty sure Hulks has them and posted something about it a year or so ago.

Just my 2 cents

I was wondering the same thing but also remember reading that someone (with a SG) was able to run both fork fangs and lowers.

I was just thinking out loud again and maybe it has something to do with driving lights if you add them now that I think about it. Keep us posted on what works.

I think you are right about driving lights. After doing some online research it seems if you have only lowers and fork fangs all is well.

TomA-I believe you're correct based on examination last week myself. But I'm OK with that.

flhrci- They tell me the Morocco Gold is even more expensive and difficult to match!
