Day 3...

Working as expected almost 21,000 songs. Used the favorites took 23 minutes to synch before being able to use the find function20150718_145915.jpg

Next step a SSD Hard drive and dual USB.

I have been wondering how many songs the Boom can access. I only have 5700 compared to yours. LOL

Hard drives. They're plugging external hard disk drives into their stereos to see how they perform. I'll be looking into getting another external just for this same purpose.

You can see and hear and switch songs the "Find" function just can not be used until the drive indexes. If you have a song set in the favorites it can move to that so with all the preset favorites its not a big issue in my book. plus when I use the SSD HHD it reads like a use stick much faster than a standard laptop hard drive.

DARN I thought I was doing good at 2100 songs on my 16G stick my Music library sucks

HDD. Hard disk drive 2.5" that fits a laptop

SSD- Solid State drive (no moving parts... much faster than normal HDD) An SSD is a component that’s similar to a hard drive, except a lot faster, more energy efficient, and reliable.

put in an external enclosure then place into media center where you put your cell phone.

It plays in under a minute, you can advance go back to previous songs and select favorites if programmed, the only draw back is you can not use the "FIND" function (upper left) to select by Artist, Album, Genre, Song until it indexes to drive in 23-25 Min.

So you just put 21,000 MPEG's on a USB hard drive and plug it into the radios USB port? The radio is able to find the song files without being on a music player?

Next question is where did you get 21,000 songs. I know you didn't buy them. :) How about a link.

This works slicker than s&$t. I put a bunch of tuned on a cheap flash drive and plugged it in. I'm kicking myself in the ass for buying the XM module now. This is so much better.

I've got an SSD instead of a hard drive in my Macbook Pro . . . Instant on / Instant off!

Test of new HHD

This is the beast I use for tunes. Have 32GB and 64GB drives that are about the size of my thumb nail.

.

I also used an app called playlist maker that let me build playlists too- which is a pretty nice feature for a big library.

I see the Playlist Maker app in the App Store, but how do you get you're play lists off the iPad and over to the flash drive....Or do you just build the playlists on the iPhone and plug it into the bike.

When you open the app (I did it on my MacBook), it will read the iTunes information on your computer. Within the app, select a playlist(s), select the destination folder (your usb drive), and hit export/start. You can set it to just copy the playlist info (if you've already copied everything to the usb), or you can set it to copy the playlist info and the music files.
When I tried simply exporting the playlist to the usb, it wouldn't work because the computer copies the source file path, and not the usb file path. There is a way you can do it manually, but I decided the cost of the app was worth it to make it easier.
