V&H Fuelpak FP3

I just bought v&h dresser duels with cfr mufflers. And want to hear if fp3 are the way to go or have the dealer tune my 14. Any help. I just want to do this once. Still not sure on the air filter. I like the stock one. Plus I'm cheap

I have this exact setup and I was in the same exact boat a few weeks ago. I went with the FP3. My theory. Since we selected dresser duals we are more into looks and sound than performance because we would of went with power duals. 2nd thought- I hate giving money to the dealership because they are a rip off. I rather spend $300 and entertain myself by reviewing maps and playing around than have some guy running a dyno and overcharging me because they couldnt get it right the first time.

Plus if I want to change my set up down the road I just look for the new map or autotune.

So how is everything going for you and the bike. And what air filter are you running.

I agree with cousinKAP.... if you are a DYI guy ( Like ME )... the FP3 is a lot of fun and you learn about tuning ( if you do the research and want to know how it works )

Hello all I am running Vance and Hines Dresser Duals with 4" Rinehart Slip-ons and was thinking of picking up the FP3. Any one have this set-up and having good results. Any advise would be great. I am also a newb DIY'er

BRIS...

You would be running the same canned map as me because it lets you select hi output slipons. I'm still in the process of autotuning but so far so good. Except for one small hiccup, where I was idling to about 1800 for about 2 hours. It seemed to work itself out though.

Let me know how it works as I am not happy with the download the dealer did. I don't think the setup is running like it should or sound like it should either.

SPAZZ & MOJO.

I'm at 85 cells learned and TPS 5.9 ...I'm not exactly sure what TPS is. I flashed the bike this morning. WHen did you guys do your first flash? I think I ran about 3 tanks of gas on autotune.

TPS = Throttle Position Sensor

I flashed my first tune at around 400 miles...

Mojo sold me his FP3 and went a different route.

I just installed a V/H 2-1 Pro Pipe and flashed a canned map specific for the pipe. It's running fantastic! I may try an autotune in the future but gotta see how the overall performance with this map is first.

Ahhh, I see.

This is the first flash I did while in the auto-tune phase. I'm guessing I have around 400 miles on the autotune feature. I am going to call V&H later and see what they say. I just wasnt sure when it was the proper time to flash the autotune setting while its still autotuning.

The more blocks you have populated, the better. There is an APPLY option which sets learned blocks and continues to learn until you are happy... the thing is, it resets the entire table to where you dont know whats already been learned.

thats exactly what happened to me. after the flash I was looking at a bunch of white squares lol

I rode the bike home from work today only 10 miles some streets some highway and it seems much more responsive than the previous flash.

I'm hoping it can only get better

It will get more responsive as you apply the learned blocks. .. I hate it that it looks like it starts from scratch again...

Just spoke to V&H. If you are running CFR and dresser duals. they recommended starting off with the twin slash rounds canned map over the hi output slipons. I selected the hi output slipons. I'll report back

Spazz, I decided to go back & run the auto tune MAP. It performs a lot better at low rpms. It done away with most of the low RPM jerking just before throttling. Especially when heavily loaded with gear & wife.

Yeah... the low end suffers a bit while tuning as well... applying the tunes as you progress seems to rid the jerkiness

SPAZZ,

what temp is your bike running at? It's been hot here in GA but friday I hit 320. I'm a little worried about it

I assume you mean oil temperature. Based on the viscosity of 20w-50 synthetic oil, I would not want to run it at much over 260 F. Full synthetic oil can go beyond 300 F without hurting the oil but it is just too thin to lubricate well.

I would run Red Line 20W60 motorcycle oil if you are getting that hot.
