What did you do to, or on your streetglide today?

Picked my 16 Standard up from the dealer last Monday, 3 miles on
the odom. Now have 476 on her, an extended shift peg and none of that stupid, noise absorbing packing material in the factory pipes (cuase I cut the baffles out, ripped that crap out and put the baffles back in)!
Now it shifts right, sounds right and is almost broke in.

Sounds like you're enjoying the new ride!

And thanks for teaching me something new. I had no idea hd put packing in the mufflers, I assumed all the sound was attenuated via baffles. I knocked open the final end cap of mine with a piece of rebar but I want more. She's whisper quiet below 75.

I did the same thing and wasn't satisfied either. I'll caution you though, that stuff, it's basically fiberglass insulation. So gloves and longsleeves are highly recommended....(I freakin itched for two days) Also, I'd definitely use a 3" hole saw. The cut will be nice and clean and easier to weld when you're putting the baffles back in. Enjoy! They'll hear your long before they see you!

One last thing since I just read up on your other thread about this topic.
If you're wanting to avoid the "straight pipe" sound (which I can't understand why you'd do that...lol) try only removing about 1/2 of that material fron the pipes. Not 100% sure how much it'll help but reason and logic support the theory that it should. Then I'd just set the baffles back in place, fire it up and see what she sounds like.
Good luck brother! Hope it helps!
Btw...lived in Wickenburg for a spell in the mid 90's....great state.

I put a new set of michellan commander 2's on today with 8277 miles and my stock tires were smooth as a baby's butt!

Nice 300 mile ride today. Small town courthouse made a perfect background.

Deleted stock mirrors and replaced with the normal stock mirrors. Got a pair of dealer takeoffs on Ebay for $45 plus $11 fore the H-D plug kit. I like it much better. Test ride to follow for alignment.

Today I joined a club, I understand it isn't all that exclusive and membership was FREE. I dropped my new street glide special on my foot. 800 plus pounds is darned heavy. Like many dumb things we do going through life, I stopped in a parking lot on an incline, feet down and attempted to make a tight turn to the left. Guess what, gravity took over and down it went. Got the touch up paint from the dealer for the saddle bag and the parts guy just said welcome to the club. I say you should learn something new every day, what not to do is one of them. Ego is dented a bit.

Get you some saddlebag guards on there Captain Dave. They will really save your bags in the event that happens again.

Aye I need to get guards before I join the club. Almost had a spill today. Ran thru some water and didn't think about it until I pulled out onto the main road. The newly moistened chicken strips slipped and I ended up doing a fishtail onto the main road. Quick pull of the clutch saved her but that was sure not how I wanted to start my day! Just another day on two wheels.

Hated the black plug after I removed the rear lightbar and moved the plate up.

That looks nice NGOT8R and I bet the wife is a lot happier. From cool hot rod to geezer glide in 10 minutes right. Pretty sure the tour pack dsen't hurt the performance too much.
