V&H Fuelpak FP3

Does FP3 save the stock map?

Sent from the mobile leash

When you 'marry' the FP3 to your bike for the first time, it will save your stock map to the FP3 automatically. You can save up to 6-7 ( I can't remember max) maps to the FP3 before you have to manually delete a map to make room.

This gives you the option to return your bike back to stock configuration and flash the stock map.

FYI... once you 'Marry' it to your bike... it's for life... you cannot marry that FP3 to any other bike but yours.

I like the FP3 too. It's a good choice. Looking forward to some auto tuning this summer.

Only down falls I can find about the FP3 is that it Mary's to the vin

That just means there is no resale value..... but true.... you should be able to reset it once you return to your stock map.

Fair enough....on the other hand if you were V&H how would you keep an unscrupulous mechanic from buying one of these and using it to tune every bike that came in the door making a profit on every tune with no benefit to V&H.....Hmmm

On the other hand it would be great if they would allow you to use it on multiple VINs if you could show that they were all registered in your name.

Instead of marying to the vin they should charge for a vin license like EFI Live does. Much cheeper then buying a new tuner for every bike you may own and the manufacture still get the income from the sale of the license. I think I paid just under a grand for my v2 tuner, 5 tunes and a selectable switch.

Sounds fair to me....why don't you get Terry on the phone and see if he'll go for it :D

I am looking for a setup for moving my 2015 to Stage 1. So far I am going to go with either V&H naked or FuelMoto for the air cleaner and Rush Big Louie slip ons. In the past I had the dealer do the remap, but they now want $250 plus a half hour labor - screw that!
The V&H FP3 really caught my eye - I have a couple questions:
1) with the above setup, is it worth getting?
2) I saw mention of voiding the warranty - I've only had the bike a couple months... not sure if I want to void it.
3) any other recommendations for the mapping?
thanks!

1. yes it's worth it. Right now... there are no provisions for FP3 IF you do engine mods... s if you are sticking with a Stage I.... the FP3 is the ticket. Canned maps can be used to get you close you your setup and then you can throw it in auto-tune to get you where you need to be.... it works great.

2. Don't worry about the warranty issue.. I don't. If you have a good working relationship with your dealer, no need to worry. Legitimately, there could be issues, if you have a problem.. but most likely you won't... and if you do... it won't be caused by the FP3. IF things get crazy, you can flash back your stock tune ( saved in the FP3 once married ) and throw on your stock parts.

3. You can call V/H with your setup and they can tell you what map will be closest to your setup... then see how it runs...give it a bit of time to see what you think. Then throw an auto-tune session at it....apply it... see if it runs better or worse. You can always play with different tunes and run auto sessions to see what works best for you and the bike.

Listen to Spazz on this, I did. I am running the exact same setup you are thinking of. air cleaner, FP3 and Big Loui slip ons. It feels like a different bike. When the spring time comes I am going with the autotune feature but for now I am running the tune that V&H told me would work best. there are also more features in the FP3 other than just the MAPS, Youtube has allot of videos on all the features that that system has. In my opinion, your heading in the right direction.

If I ever trade- I'll probably do the FP3 myself. Dealer downloads are too expensive for what they aren't. I'm happy with my Dyno but won't bother on the next bike.

Great, thanks all. As soon as the tax man gives me back my money I'll be shopping and wrenching!

I have the FP3 and it works great, I recommended. Very easy to install and once you flash your bike you can take it off, you don't have to leave it connected unless you want to do a custom tune on your bike.

Nelly, did you do the auto tune yet?

Take a look at the FP3 from our sponsor Direct Cycle Parts-they have really good prices and fast delivery!

Mojo, I checked them out and you are 100% correct. Prices better than everywhere else I looked - I'll go through them for the whole package (air, pipes, and tuner).

I actually found better prices than direct cycle parts, then called dennis kirk because dennis kirk beats prices. So I found pro-pipe and FP3 from somewhere cheaper than direct cycle parts and then dennis kirk beat that finding by $2 ($1 per item). I like dennis kirk because very fast shipping and easy returns. But this post is useless because I don't remember where I found the cheapest price...ugh.
